Geeky Wishlist Autumn ‘25

This wishlist sounds like music to my ears!

From books to music and more. Everything nerdy and what I love is covered in this blog. And… this autumn it seems to be mostly music-related!

Manga

Nana 25th Anniversary Edition, Vol. 1 – Ai Yazawa
A chance meeting on a train to Tokyo sends two girls named Nana on a collision course with destiny!
After a string of epic romantic failures, Nana Komatsu is ready to take control of her life and get a clean start in the big city. After prioritizing her musical ambitions over love, Nana Osaki is ready to stomp her way to the top of Tokyo’s punk scene. With determination in their hearts and dreams in their eyes, the two Nanas are ready to take the world by storm!
This is the story of two 20-year-old women who share the same name. Even though they come from completely different backgrounds, they somehow meet and become best friends. The world of Nana is a world exploding with sex, music, fashion, gossip and all-night parties.
Anxious to get into a Tokyo groove, both women are on the prowl for a funky and cheap place to live. But inexpensive apartments in Japan’s capital city are hard to find. Thank goodness each Nana has a clique of cool friends willing to help out. Too bad these friends are a little eccentric!

In late October the 25th Anniversary Edition of Nana will make its way onto the shelves. This is a very popular unfinished manga. However, recently in an interview the mangaka Ai Yazawa has confirmed the story is in its final stage and she wants to bring it to a conclusion, though no specific date has been set. But honestly I am already happy it is going to happen especially since the creator had to go on a hiatus due to illness
After 15 years the story gets an ending and that makes me want to pick up the series, so the new 25th Anniversary Editions works perfectly for me.

Books

The Demon and the Light, The Floating World #2 – Axie Oh
(Blurp from The Floating World #1)
Sunho lives in the Under World, a land of perpetual darkness. An ex-soldier, he can remember little of his life from before two years ago, when he woke up alone with only his name and his sword. Now he does odd-jobs to scrape by, until he comes across the score of a lifetime—a chest of coins for any mercenary who can hunt down a girl who wields silver light.

Meanwhile, far to the east, Ren is a cheerful and spirited acrobat traveling with her adoptive family and performing at villages. But everything changes during one of their festival performances when the village is attacked by a horrific humanlike demon. In a moment of fear and rage, Ren releases a blast of silver light—a power she has kept hidden since childhood—and kills the monster. But her efforts are not in time to prevent her adoptive family from suffering a devastating loss, or to save her beloved uncle from being grievously wounded.

Determined to save him from succumbing to the poisoned wound, Ren sets off over the mountains, where the creature came from—and from where Ren herself fled ten years ago. Her path sets her on a collision course with Sunho, but he doesn’t realize she’s the girl that he—and a hundred other swords-for-hire—is looking for. As the two grow closer through their travels, they come to realize that their pasts—and destinies—are far more entwined than either of them could have imagined…

Yes, the second book! You can’t go wrong with a book from Axie Oh.

Music

October will be an insane month! A lot of my favourite artists will come out with new music. Taylor Swift, The Last Dinner Party, Sigrid and Le Sserafim will all show up. Taylor will for sure make it a party with this new album, The Life of a Showgirl, because she worked with Max Martin and Shellback who are known to have worked on Swift her biggest hits in the past. That makes my October 3rd completely booked. For the 17th we move to The Last Dinner Party’s The Pyre. With the single This Is The Killer Speaking earlier released this summer the new album is set up to be an amazing baroque pop and art rock album. There’s Always More That I Could Say from Sigrid will be released on October 24th. I already fell in love with the prereleases Jellyfish and Fort Knox
Gotta say, there seems to be a trend going on with the capitol letter T, longer titles and mostly concept albums. Or this is a complete coincidence with the music I personally like to listen to. Time will tell.

Le Sserafim haven’t announced the exact date yet besides that they will have their comeback in October. I mean… girls I have two spots left: the 10th and the 31st of October, so take your pick! Hahaha, all jokes aside, it’s going to be a busy month, but I would like to write an essay of all the music that comes out that I like.

If everything goes right BlackPink will have their comeback in November. I think the autumn season will come to a close with Stray Kids having their next comeback. But the thing with K-pop is, they will mostly surprise you with the releases by announcing the dates shortly before it happens. Which can be fun surprises.

What is on your Geeky Wishlist?

Love,
