Bucket list ’26 update #2 | Laufey & Leipzig

What a beautiful first half of the year!

Personal goals – bucket list style
Besides my bucket list I have personal goals for each year, however some of those goals fit the bucket list vibe. During each update I will share some of those things that I have been up to over the last two months.

March
The month started off with me being in Amsterdam. I live in the countryside, so going to the capitol of the country I am from feels like a citytrip. I arrived in February, but when the days turned into March, that’s when I did the things that I came to Amsterdam for. First up, I finally got to visit the Rijksmuseum. It has been on my list forever. I had a wonderful time exploring. After a long morning and the start of the afternoon, I got back to my hotel to get ready for a concert. That concert turned into one of my all time favourite concerts I have ever been to! The A Matter of Time tour by Laufey was a magical night that I won’t forget. I was even lucky enough to have gotten VIP. But the fun was far from over… the next day I visited the Van Gogh Museum. All in all, it was a very Laufey weekend in Amsterdam.

I already had an amazing time this month so far, but there was still a lot of month left, so I travelled. Just like last year I made a business trip to Leipzig! Before the working part started, four days of messe and con, I had some time to myself. I used it to shop, explore the city and go to the Leipzig Zoo! I can’t even begin to explain how much joy I felt that day, but I will give it a go. It’s an incredible zoo with so much to see and walkaround, and I even got to see koalas, the red panda and capybaras. Those were the three animals I had hoped to see the most, and I was very lucky they decided not to be shy that day.
Before I knew it, Leipziger Buchmesse and Manga Comic Con officially began. I worked hard for different clients of mine and got a chance to squeeze in some time for myself. I used it mostly to visit book and manga panels and a lot of manga boots. I came home with mostly goodies and manga. I have been truly in my manga era lately.

April
Work was incredibly busy, so I decided it would be best for me to keep my weekends as calm as possible. I did manage to buy a VIP ticket for the Niall Horan Dinner Party Live On Tour. And I especially enjoyed the outside green while walking in the sun with music on.
Me being busy with work this month did pay off (literally!) cause I knocked down January as my highest income month in my career ever to the second place. April turned into a new high in regards to my income and made sure I had the highest turnover rate in a year for my company. That wasn’t all. My company even moved tax brackets and isn’t small anymore! I worked extremely hard to get to this point and I am celebrating this huge milestone while still on my way of building my empire.

Stay in a castle
Depending on how long you’ve been following this blog, you probably know all the unique places I’ve lived. From an estate to a museum. So the next logical step seems to me to stay at a castle, right?

Yeah, I know… this one has been on my list forever! And I just need to find a nice castle, make a plan and book it. My plan for now is to make it happen in the second half of the year, since the first half is already booked with other trips. To stay in a castle after I finished my biggest work project to date, sounds like a fun gift to myself. I am currently an interim and will be till late November. So when that project is fully delivered, I plan to take some time to myself and finally make this oldie of a bucket list point happen. Or… I might make it happen in October since I do have some time off around that then.

Take a cooking class abroad
Learning a language is learning a culture filled with history and food. I have fun in the kitchen with both cooking and baking, but taking a cooking class abroad always sounded amazing to me. So why not make it happen?

Immediately in January I started taking this point seriously. As of right now I have plans to go to Paris in autumn. There I want to take a pastry class which I have already picked which one I want to do. Now it’s just about booking!

Take a language class abroad
My language study time is sacred to me. Languages shaped the trajectory of my life. Because of my dedication to my studies I have been able to land multiple workpositions. With that I was able to go on adventures (abroad) and do the things I love. I think it would be so cool to do some language classes when I am abroad. So far, when I am abroad, I have only done immersion and practiced with natives and that has been amazing too. But I would for sure level up even better when I would follow classes and do immersion all at the same time.

We aren’t even that far into the year, but I already found out this point is going to be super tricky! In the last update I mentioned I will be able to explain why this will likely either happen in December or just not at all this year. And it is because… I was asked to stay longer in my current interim position. It took some time to finalise contracts, but here we are!
It feels a bit like a downer to already know that I won’t be able to make this happen. But on the other hand, it is because of a very amazing reason that is a much higher goal of mine to reach: to grow my own company, my own empire. The goals I set with my company are high, but in the end I do it so I can do other fun stuff. Like being able to afford concerts and also, of course, taking a language class abroad. Yes, that does mean I also need time off to be able to do so. As of right now, taking time off to go to concerts was actually a higher priority of mine than going abroad for language class. However, I do know it will happen one day.

Visit 3 new places
An oldie but a goldie on this year’s list. I have done this bucket list point multiple times on my blog, just because I think it is fun and important to push myself to discover new things and places. So far most of my travels I have already planned for this year are to places I have been to before, which is amazing, but I also believe it’s a good thing to shake things up and do something new.

What I already know for sure is that I will be going to Munich (Germany) this summer. Other new places I hope to visit are either close by like other places in Germany and Austria. Asia is also in my thoughts, but the state of the world makes this almost impossible I am afraid. So staying close to my home country seems the way to go. I am thinking about Hamburg (Germany) for autumn and the south of the Netherlands for this spring. I haven’t had the chance to explore the south, so this year seems a good year to do so. I am actually making plans while writing this blog.

See BTS in concert
Four years ago I pledged to myself that I wanted to see BTS in concert. It’s wild to me that I was 26 back then and now I am 30. I got older, but my wish stayed.

Back in January when the first half of the tour was announced I did not hesitate and booked my hotel in a city I have had on my list to visit for a very long time (Munich!). When the ticketing presale happened, I literally don’t know how, but I got the exact ticket I hoped to get. So I am going to make it happen; see BTS in concert!

How is it going with your bucket list?

Love,
